Lifting Machinery

Driving Sense is accredited for various lifting machinery programs, which is valid until the unit standard’s lifespan. Currently, all lifting machinery qualifications have an expiry date of June 30, 2024. The transition from legacy or historical qualifications to occupational qualifications is underway in South Africa. Legacy qualifications, which refer to outdated credentials issued before the establishment of the QCTO and the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF), are being phased out. They are being replaced by occupational qualifications designed to better align with current industry needs, educational practices, and regulatory requirements.

These new occupational qualifications, developed based on the OQSF frameworks and standards, aim to address various industries’ evolving demands and advancements. They ensure a better alignment with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required in specific fields. Due to their outdated nature, legacy qualifications may no longer adequately reflect the current needs of industries or possess the necessary relevance. The transition to occupational qualifications aims to bridge this gap by offering targeted, industry-specific training and education.

Following the registration end date, the training, assessments, moderations, and achievements associated with these legacy qualifications will proceed as usual. Learners can still enrol in these qualifications and pursue their unit standards until June 30, 2024. However, it is essential to note that accredited Skills Development Providers (SDPs) will no longer be able to enrol new learners beyond this date.

At Driving Sense, we are committed to providing our learners with education and training that align with the evolving needs of the industry. We have recently been accredited by the QCTO for First Aid Level 1-3 (SDP050324175933) and are in the process of obtaining lift machinery accreditation with the QCTO. This commitment ensures that our programs remain relevant and up-to-date, equipping our learners with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their respective fields.

This course aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the safe operation of lifting machinery, grounded in the context of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Driven Machinery Regulations. Participants will be equipped with legal knowledge and practical skills to operate lifting machines in compliance with workplace safety standards.
