Pre-employment
Screening

Common components of pre-employment screening include:

Background Checks

Background checks help identify individuals with a history of violent or criminal behaviour, thereby protecting other employees, customers, and the public from potential harm.

Verification of Licence and Prdp

The purpose of verifying a license and PRDP (Professional Driving Permit) is to ensure the driver is legally qualified to operate a specific vehicle type, particularly for professional or commercial use. Many commercial vehicle insurance policies require proof of a valid license and PRDP, and verification helps meet these requirements to keep the insurance coverage valid.

Credit Checks

Assessing financial responsibility, especially for positions that involve handling money.

Reference Checks

Contacting previous employers or professional references to assess the candidate’s work performance and reliability.
Skills and Aptitude Tests

Evaluating the candidate’s abilities relevant to his Job Description including Literacy assessments and psychomotor assessments.

Drug Testing

Screening for the use of illegal substances.

Literacy Assessment (ELSA)

The literacy assessment identifies the candidate’s ability to read and write in English. The assessment measures the language and numeracy and competency levels.

Vienna Test System

Driving Sense focuses on a driver’s skills and performance using a computerized assessment called The Vienna Test System. This tool measures important driving abilities to improve safety and performance. It has been used in Europe since 1979 and in South Africa since 1982 to select qualified drivers by evaluating their coordination, concentration, and reaction to stress.

The test feels like a computer game and doesn’t require previous computer experience. Candidates practice first to understand the tasks. The results are saved and analyzed to determine if the driver has the necessary skills. High scores on the test usually mean the driver will be safe and productive on the job.
